Question about becoming a medical assistant or medical biller / coder?

Im 23 single mom with one felony on my record ...receiving stolen property because I pawned something that turned out to be stolen..i did 45 days in jail gpt time served...i wanted to know what my chances are of becoming either a medical assistant or a coder and which one would I have a better chance of being ,with my record...i just wanna change my life... Get a good career...everyone is telling me I might aa well just do hair because I probly wont get hired with a record....is there any hope for me to be able to do what I wanna do for my future????i really want to go ahead and start school but I dont want to waste the nine months and graduate but not be able to find work! I have no violent charges....
