Are medical billing/coding jobs hard to find?

I am considering becoming a medical biller/coder because I have enough money for the program in my area and I feel it would be a great start to a career in the medical field. Eventually, I would like to become a nurse, but the courses for CNA(certified nursing assistant) and medical assistants in my area are too expensive and always full. I know that medical billing/coding is not really medical work per say but it makes OK money, and since I have to pay for my education for myself, I think it would be a good investment. Can anybody tell me more about the medical biller/coders job? Are jobs in that career field hard to find? I would hate to pay all that money for the program to have it go to waste. Thanks!
