Hearing loss or something else...?

I can hear out of my left ear but is sounds really muffled and feels as if I'm underwater. I had my annual check up at the doctor a few days ago before this problem occurred and when the checked my hearing it was fine. I thought it may be wax so I cleaned my ear with peroxide, that helped a little...so are these sign of me going deaf or what?
