Computer to Component help?

So, I bought this cord off amazon that goes from computer 15 pin VGA to compont, and it doesn't work. I learned it is b/c the computer outputs VGA and the Tv expects PYwhatever (basically wrong formats). I dont want to buy a coder box becasue they cost WAY too much, which is why I tried this cord in the first place. Does anyone know a way or program that will help me get this stuff working? Any advice at all?
